On October 29th, Moscow hosted a
cross industrial event on the Internet of Things, gathering experts, top companies of the industry, investors and startups.
We were also there to demonstrate how embedded software can be managed in an easy and automated way with Resin.io.
More specifically, we showed two demos at our booth.
The first one was a
multi-device demo comprised of 4 Raspberry Pi's 2 model B. Each one of them had a PiTFT 3.5" screen attached.
A specific text ("Hello Moscow"!) was shown to every screen. This text was shifted 1 character left every 1.5 seconds. All the Pi's were running the same code but had different INDEX environment variables set that defined their position in a row. Based on that value they were shifting the text accordingly.
The
second one was a Raspberry Pi 2 model B with speakers attached to it, which was running a a simple HTTP server in order to serve a HTML page at the device URL.
Any visitor could take a photo of a printed QR code at our booth with their smartphones.
As soon as they did that, they were shown a simple web page with a Push me! button. Clicking on that button activated an AJAX request sent to the device which, in turn, triggered a tune played through the speakers. At the same time the page was switching to gorgeous animated GIF displaying Rick Astley!
All in all, the IoT conference in Moscow was a rewarding experience for us, having some fruitful discussions with people from different backgrounds.
We saw some pretty cool things like controlled light-bulbs, home monitors, fitness trackers and even a beautiful demo from Tibbo company made of LEGO.
